Doctor Who v Game of Thrones?

So there was a debate sometime in the last few months that I read that Doctor Who should either split and become a kids show and a separate adults show or else just abandon kids altogether and just become more like Game of Thrones.

But do we really want a show like Game of Thrones?

My favorite rant : Hypocritical fans

Yes its that time to rant about something that really annoys me.

Fans who like to bitch and moan about the driver/actor/character/singer/person/team/thing they dislike but then act all "poor us" when the tables are turned.

You know what?

If YOU can't find anything nice to say about something then don't open your mouth or tweet it or whatever if you can't take it when someone says the same about your favorite!

I like one of the most disliked F1 drivers in the world, I also like quite a disliked MotoGP rider. Plus on Tumblr and on forums a lot of my favorite characters from films or TV are marmite characters you either love or hate.

Personally if I dislike someone I'll say it, even if I admit that I like a similar quality in another person. Sometimes people just rub you up the wrong way (even if you don't know them!) and yes it hurts when other fans act like just because I'm a fan of X,Y or D that I'm a terrible person, or big headed, or this or that...

I dislike Michael Schumacher, he annoyed me. I never was a fan and I have my reasons. My best friend is a Schumi fan, I'd never hold that against her (much) and she'd never hold it against me that I'm an Alonso fan. Some of the things she says about Alonso make me cringe because I hold the total opposite view of him as a person but she's a right to say that and we laugh and joke about it! I'd never make a sweeping generalization of Schumi fans because I know one who is great, if anything my view on Schumi fans are they are some of the most knowledgeable fans around! Schumacher himself is still a cheating git but hey ho you can't win every battle...

One friend, who I love to bits, spends most of a race weekend moaning about how she'd rather that Spanish git didn't get on the podium or how if any other team/driver did something Alonso did they'd be fined and so on and so forth. She's a Vettel fan, arguable a driver who has recently gotten away with a lot of things she accuses Alonso of, does this enter into her mind? No because as it is her driver any penalty would be too much even if he got out of his car, set the track on fire and then drove over the finishing line demanding the race be stopped. No matter what he does it doesn't matter and any time Alonso is punished its the right thing to do but is forgotten when he doesn't get punished in the way she wants it.

Now she also has this thing about how hard done by Vettel fans are.

Well no.

I dislike Vettel as well but I have nothing against his fans.

Yes I have a problem with some fans, I have a problem with Alonso fans too, that is down to individuals and not because they are a fan of a certain driver.

So I'm not allowed to be critical of Vettel and what he does just in case I'm giving too much "shit" to Vettel fans?

Try being a bit nicer to other drivers yourself before you play the poor me card!

I mean come on if you are going to rant and rave about one driver then you can't be surprised that fans of another driver might rant and rave about yours.

As I've said before (in the Should Fans boo post) I prefer that people are honest (not mean just honest) about the drivers they like and dislike rather then start hate campaigns against them or attack other fans and their opinion.

Guess what? We can like and dislike different drivers, we can bad mouth drivers and decisions all we want but fans shouldn't take another fan disliking their favorite driver to heart, after all in all likely hood you dislike their favorite driver. Their view isn't against you personally (if it is they aren't worth talking to) just the same as yours for something else.

Stars of Time 2013

Yes he was dancing, everyone was dancing!

So as everyone knows I went to Stars of Time yesterday, first time at the event though I've been meaning to go for years and I have to admit I enjoyed myself!

We had to get a train to Weston-Super-Mare, long train journey but didn't feel half as long as the train/bus journey to Beer! It also helped that the weather wasn't that bad! So even though the train was packed (thank the Gods for reserved train tickets!) I didn't have a terrible headache before I left Plymouth!

When we got there I have to admit that it wasn't anything like I thought it would be, to be honest with you I wasn't sure what I thought it would be!

Obviously we were in Weston's Helicopter Museum, not quite as pretty as Pecorama but it would be a wonderful place to visit if I ever found myself in Weston with nothing to do! After getting into the main part of the building you had a "corridor" of Doctor Who models ranging from the Second Doctor and an original Ice Warrior to Zygons and Masters.

Down one side you had all the guests, I have to admit I only really went to see Chris Barrie (Rimmer) so I didn't actually go to any other guest. I didn't even go to Chris Barrie first!

When we got there we were just in time for An Audience with Daleks. Even though it was at both Beer events I've been to this is the first time I saw it all the way through and I have to say the Daleks were awesome! It was hosted by Matt Holden, and it was only a coincidence that so many photos were of him, and had me laughing from start to finish. Best answer was to "Why does Dalek Khan look like that?" to which Dalek Candi (the pink one) answered because he was her ex.

In between that and the Exterminate Factor we kind of wandered between the stalls, I brought myself a mini-Gloomy Bear and a Hello Kitty umbrella (it is really pretty!), got my picture taken with Chris Barrie and achieved my goal of getting a photo with Matt Holden. Wasn't brave enough to SAY anything to him I kind of just looked like I was about to throw up/faint but I can honestly Geek out now when looking at that photo saying "OMG THE MOST GAWJUS GEEK IN THE WORLD TOUCHED ME! I am not worthy!" etc...

Not only has that photo landed itself over here >>>> but it will probably be blogged every now and again and I feel it'll be the photo that I look at whenever I feel down because yeah... I was touched by a good looking guy (Tomoko I'm one up in the world!)

So yeah *ahem* moving on from Mr Perfect Geek Man...

I did get to see all the costumers dancing! They enjoyed themselves and it was brilliant seeing them so happy! I have a few little videos of that (and a couple others I'll upload later) but I didn't stay to see who won the best costume.

The Exterminate Factor was probably the highlight! Three Daleks singing, ohh what a wonderful site! Personally I loved all three even if Spot and Phil didn't remember the words and went out of time. Dalek Al won after a wonderful rendition of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" which was actually really good.

I will hopefully go again next year! Really worth the money and a lot of good fun!

So we have had one murder and two punishments. One of the punishments was for hurting Monokuma (up until now he's been Monobear but I found out his name is actually Monokuma and the sub I was watching was wrong) the other for being found guilty of the murder of Maizono.

Gone completely wrong.... Gonna do something!

So I started off well with anime's that actually were coming out the days I was reviewing them. All good!

Then Wednesday happened.

Oh dear.

So today along with the two that I am up to date with I will be reviewing (as of after this blog post) Danganronpa. That will then carry on being reviewed on a Friday (and to be honest I'm only doing that one because it was the other MUST SEE of the season and I am not on my laptop to remember what else was meant to be done!)

I DID IT!!!!

So just to prove that sometimes good things do happen... I GOT MY PHOTO TAKEN WITH MATT HOLDEN!

I fully admit my mum had to ask him, I looked like I was about to faint and for some reason after losing hell of a lot of weight I've put it all back on and looked like an elephant. BUT I got a picture next to probably the most attractive geek in the world.

My long two year wait is over! Now just to ask him myself for another one next time I go to an event he's at!

So work has hit a new low this week. After doing a seven day week (Wednesday to this Tuesday) having one day off (yesterday) and coming back for two more days (today and tomorrow) I feel like someone, somewhere should be thankful that the 14 hour a week part timer is, you know, pulling her weight in hard times.

The main character is a guy that died saving a girl in a robbery and because he hadn't read the last book in his favorite authors series he was brought back as a tiny ickle doggy! Just to find out that the girl who he saved was his favorite author all along and now she can hear his thoughts...

Plus she has a nasty habit of attacking him with scissors...

Heatwave... Not a good thing

If anyone knows me they know I hate heat so this heatwave is doing my head in!

But just so you know why my best laid plans have failed tonight.

I have been working since Wednesday, I don't have a day off till this Wednesday. Our shop is like a greenhouse, super hot in the summer (and stupidly cold in the winter.) So you can imagine I've spent the last 4 days, 26 hours in total in a greenhouse.

I had to walk to the bank yesterday (other side of town up basically a hill) in this heat. When I got there the guy was being a dick so I went to Tesco to get a drink. Obviously I've left my card there or dropped it since.

Today, stupid me who should have booked the train ticket earlier, went to book my ticket to Weston and OHHH LOOK no bank card! Not only that but I found a ticket for £48 then suddenly that one disappeared and I had to pay £61.

So I've booked them on my mum's card, Catherine is paying Christy's share this week and I thought I'd be able to pay the money I owed my mum straight to her account.

Apparently you can't.

I understand all the safety stuff on Natwest and I'm not dissing it but I need a card reader to transfer my money. All nice and safe yes but totally useless in this situation.

It is my fault, I shouldn't have agreed to work Wednesday, I shouldn't have left my card somewhere and I defo should have booked my train tickets earlier!

I have been running around the place like a headless chicken for the last hour and NOTHING has gone my way, I am so careful usually but because of this heat I just can't think. It has really pissed me off because I have been looking forward to Weston for ages and now I have to send all my money to my mum to get out (instead of having it my bank and being able to withdraw when I need it)  in one lump sum to go to Weston with.

I'm just so angry at myself.

And because of this drama I really should be going to sleep now as I'm knackered but I feel bad doing one review, promising another, going off QUICKLY to do something else, end up taking half the night doing it and then cancelling what I'd given myself more than enough time to do!

The good thing is I'm still going to Weston! The bad news is I'm sucking most of my savings out to go there as I don't think I'll be paid till the week after next. Thankfully I have stupid amounts of overtime in the coming weeks (maybe more after) and I'll just have to carry on sticking it all into my savings (plus maybe a £10 extra here and there to make up for my stupidity!)

Yes the first episode was a manic ride of strangeness but here we are awaiting episode 2!

So after being sent on their quest by Walrot Seeken the guys showed up at the giants village and soon encountered Sylph Labyrinth, a treasure hunting guild out to steal the Eternal Flame.

Plus One Piece when I sit down and read big chunks of it (Karneval will defo be Wednesday and Fairy Tail Friday or if the heat doesn't permit it Saturday's) One Piece is special because I have over 700 chapters to read so I just spam two when I sit down and read it.

So I said I'd have all of today and tomorrow to get all the anime's up to date and I should be done by next week.

My plan to be fair is still to be up to date on the important ones by next week, but I've agreed to do overtime tomorrow so now my work schedule goes Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday then Wednesday off before working Thursday and Friday and going to Weston Super Mare on Saturday (and working the next Sunday).

"But you have plenty of time to do it when you get home!" you'll cry.

Well true enough on Saturday and Sunday but the other days David is here and I can't just ignore him (he'll moan at me and make it impossible to do anything) and even then it is just a maybe on Saturday and Sunday what with having dogs and my mum and sister being at each others throats!

I will try and do it as well as I can, please feel free to moan and whine at me here or at the forum (geekmind.boards.net) I do love a good moan!

I am back to work as of tomorrow (yay) my laptop is out of action on Monday (don't ask) and Plymouth is in the middle of a heat wave (stupid weather) so it might seem like the first episode (and second episodes) have been forgotten...

They haven't. I might get some more done tomorrow after work and will come back and do as many as possible on Tuesday and Wednesday, after that though I'm working until next week so they will be done but I have to find time for it.

So Walrot Seeken of the 4 Gods of Ishval (Ishgal) sent Team Natsu to unfreeze a frozen village, it isn't as easy as using fire so Natsu and Gray were the requested Mages.

So the first of this seasons reviews. As I said I won't carry on with probably most of these, only the ones I find interesting, I also am trying not to do reviews on second seasons, even if I watch the first episode and enjoy it, mainly because I'll have to watch the first season first.

I have no idea what any of these episodes are going to be like so the first time I do this who is with me?

A quick look for "Inu" tells me it is about the relationship between and author and her dog. This might interest me if this is true because I've just got a pet dog and grew up with dogs so lets give it a go shall we?

(PS if anyone here actually does read my blog regulary and I say at the end of an episode I won't be reviewing it yet they are watching and would like company and my opinions then just say and I'll carry on watching!)

Exciting news?

If you are just stumbling on my blog anyone who seems to come on here a lot will tell you no. Not that exciting. Why?

I'm an episode of Zombie Desu ka behind... THAT isn't even a new one that is something I could catch up with at any time! I also stopped watching Haiyore! Nyaruko-san half way through, not because I disliked it but because I got busy (new puppies) and never caught up!

Obviously I won't watch every single anime out this season but I do plan on giving each and every first episode a chance and a "Will I Won't I?" blog.

Come on even my regulars have to say it is a little exciting? Just a little bit?

That along with my manga blogs (Fairy Tail, Karneval and One Piece) will make an exciting time.

Of course I've not got much other then anime and manga to offer you at the moment but I'm sure I'll think something up!

ExeWing Sci-Fi Day 30th June 2013

So yesterday I made the stupidly long trip to Beer to visit Pecorama. Why you ask? Because ExeWing were holding a Sci-Fi day!

I went to their last charity day at Pecorama (a Doctor Who day) way back in 2011. As you know. I wrote a blog about it during the week with some of the photos!

This time around it was just as good, other than the fact it didn't have Mr Perfect Colin Baker.

Once again it was a fun day out, this time Christy (my niece) was much more brave and went and hugged a load of Daleks as well as talking to anyone in costume she could get her grubby little paws on.

I missed everything though! It was so hot and my mum was so slow walking about that I didn't see anything that was happening, we made a few tours around the gardens, looked in on the exhibition and that was about it! We missed what ever the Daleks were doing because Christy went on the train and none of us felt in the mood to go see Sophie Aldred (not in a mean way it was just so hot!).

I didn't even get half as many photos as I would have liked but some I did get so I'll share them with you now.

It was a perfect day out, Pecorama is a beautiful place and everyone from ExeWing, Dorset Troopers, Southern Troopers and the rest of the costumed guys were wonderful! Oh and Matt Holden was there again I still haven't got the guts up to ask for a photo with him! I feel like such a dork so run in the other direction but he is brilliant.
