Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou : The Blood Soaked Future

Episode 2

So... Weird stuff happened last episode out and unfortunately my favorite character seems to have been erased from time after some creepy stuff happened with plants and people killing her after she became crazed.

Yes the first episode was a manic ride of strangeness but here we are awaiting episode 2!

***SPOILERS***

We start with little Akari and her mother, well a dream of Akari and her mother. She wakes up in a strange... Dorm room? Her cards lay beside her bed. The girl with the long hair that carried her out of the burning building and who Akari saved the ribbon for in the town comes in with water. Her name is Etia Visconti.

YAY everyone from the mansion are fine. Good times!

Sephiro Fiore is the name of the place that they've brought Akari.

Again I just love the opening credits, they are so cool! I mean even the main credits have blood galore! Not the typical Magical Girl anime I usually tend to glimpse at.

They brought her here to protect her and ask something of her, though they don't tell her straight away. We meet Areal who tells Akari about Daemonia, the monsters from last episode. It turns out that Fuyuna probably made a contract with a Daemonia. Sad. It isn't said but I'm guessing that is what happened. There are 21 members who use Elemental Tarot powers. Sephiro Fiore is a unit set to defeat Daemonia and Akari is the last person they need, it turns out that Akari's mum was part of their team.

Areal looks badass! Just saying, she is pretty grumpy looking and has a evil looking raven. So cool.

Whilst packing to leave she finds a blank book but before she can figure out what it was her transport arrives.

At school Akari is put in a group with more new girls, and the raven Areal had and a cat both talk, how cool!

Akari's new team mates seem pretty nice and go to befriend her straight away. Tsukuyomi Luna is the first to knock on her door, she asks if Akari wants to have dinner with her but finds Akari asleep. Instead of buggering off though she sleeps next to Akari which is pretty sweet, I quite like Luna she's a but crazy. Akari is the Power of the Sun, Luna is The Moon. The other two members of the team are Shirokana Ginka (Temperance) and Hoshikawa Seira (Star).

School seems a pretty normal affair, history, science, PE and music. When they get a mission really cool music starts to play and they run to a big strange room. They don't seem to have taught Akari anything about fighting Daemontia unless it was an unseen lesson but she is super col when she's transformed, Luna has fox ears!!!

They have to fight quite a cool Daemontia and Seira makes basically a machine gun out of ice, the battle scene is so-so to be honest. After killing the Daemontia Akari remembers Fuyuna... Actually no I don't think she has destroyed the Daemontia something strange happened and she kind of just... Magic'd out. Luna takes her back to Sephiro Fiora and tells her that they wiped her memory.

The nice thing is even though this is "killing monsters" the monsters ARE human and it really does effect the characters, no wonder Akari's mum wanted to protect her from it. I could start crying when Akari brings up Fuyuna to her aunt and she can't remember her, I do feel for Akari who is such a sweet character she'd rather have been killed as well then have Fuyuna wiped from people's memories.

Whilst out and about she runs into a Daemontia (yeah that really cool effect I didn't get last episode is to announce Daemontia) and we end.

What a stunning second episode! All our questions are answered, no longer is the anime confusing. We know that Daemontia take over humans who have strong negative feelings (envy on Fuyuna's part, guilt on Akari's part after killing Fuyuna) and that Sephiro Fiora holds Elemental Tarot fighters who use the power of their Tarot card to kill the Daemontia, but to kill the Daemontia you have to kill the human they possessed as well.

Now that is quite cool and creepy. Please tell me if there is any Magical Girl anime that is quite so.... Dark I'd love to see it.

I love all the characters, Luna is probably my favorite at the moment I think she is brilliant! I love the whole team and all the other characters surrounding them.

Akari I felt so bad for, nearly as bad as I felt for Fuyuna. She does just seem a genuinely nice girl and now she knows that she killed her cousin and not only that she'll be killing others. Her reaction is just heartbreaking and I really wanted to give her a hug. Just a really nice character. You need a strong lead character in anything and I think Akari is strong, she wouldn't rely on any of her team mates to bring something to the show because she's not just a happy chirpy character she's loyal and kind and that can bring quite a few different emotions out.

The school seems really cool and as I said i love all the members.

TALKING RAVEN!!!!

I do hope the battles and "missions" improve though because that was the weakest point of this episode. It was confusing in the first episode but now you kind of understand the style of the show. I thought it was really rushed and they could have dragged that to the end of the episode and had next episode focus on Akari learning her memory had been wiped and the resolution of meeting a Daemontia. It seemed very... Pokémon quality... I mean it would have been nice to have seen Akari enter the room where they transported her away and been given a small explanation but instead it kind of just rushed to the battle then rushed to show off some of the fighting before returning to the school and going on about Akari's memory.

There is a nice story going on beneath the surface though and the older members (teachers, whatever) from the school seem to be hiding something or at least expect something of Akari.

Maybe it isn't just killing people that her mum was hiding her from? Maybe there is something else?!

Another cool episode! I'll do episode 3 next!
