Blood Lad : Back home but not really

Episode 2

So Staz wants to go to the human world with Yanagi, mainly for a shopping trip but also (possibly) to turn her back from a ghost into a human (she was eaten by a plant last episode.... That was how awesome it was...)

How will his Territory survive?!

***SPOILERS***

First off it is very hard not to like Staz, he is pretty funny. Really love how excited he was about coming to the human world!

There are so many characters I can't wait to meet from the opening credits, they look so bloody awesome! Can't wait to see where this anime goes.

Staz and Yanagi (Fuyumi, whatever) enter into the human world... Into Yanagi's bedroom. Unfortunately it isn't very exciting for Staz so he decides to go to her school. On the way down the stairs her father catches them and starts to, well, be a bit of an ass towards her so Staz just sprays him with a bottle of his own saliva (Staz's super Vampire saliva that is!) Basically it gives him mind control effect over her father.

The big thing apparently is not to catch anyone's attention, I don't think Yanagi needed to be told but Staz should have listened to himself, in the end we get out the handy bottle of Vampire spit to make people accept the creepy, psycho Vampire tourist and his pet ghost.

After nearly fading and being brought back by Staz's blood they decide to head back to the Demon world only to find Hydra-Bell jumping on the bed. She's the one who the Curtain belongs too and charges them for usage. She sends Staz to a demon shop keeper.... Fun and games! When Staz wins the fight Bell (Hydra... Whatever) tells them to get the book on Human Resurrection they have to go into Wolf Territory! YES WEREWOLF!!!!

The episode was a lot of fun, it really opened up the character of Yanagi who was a bit of the butt of the jokes in the last episode, this time around we get to know her a little better. Still a lot of jokes piled at her door but also some really sweet moments, especially when she is fading in the school and Staz basically slaps her out of it.

You don't need time to fall in love with these characters, they might be bigger than life but they are really quite awesome, and under the surface of fun and games lies something very dark and very dangerous in all of them.

It carried on all the good things about episode one, the only weak point was personally I felt the story was a little all over the place, not in a bad way just it needed to focus a little bit more. I found myself more writing a list of bullet points then joining the dots later then just listening to the story and feeling a part of it.

Don't get me wrong that isn't a terrible thing and it didn't make it unenjoyable, I enjoyed the episode greatly and really loved all the characters. The only way I see the show failing will be if it keeps skipping, a lot like SAO just that skipped time this kind of skips the attention from one bit to another.

Perfect point was it took me joining the dots to really understand what Hydra/Staz was doing (not sure I really understand it still) whereas in most anime's you would just... You know... Understand.

It doesn't make the episode unwatchable but it takes you out of the story trying to figure out what is going on. I know a lot of it is down to comic timing and silliness but it wouldn't hurt from a little more structure.

Personally I loved it and can't wait to watch episode three (in about a seconds time!)

Not a massive leap from episode one but still very watchable!
