Uchouten Kazoku : The Friday Fellows

Episode 5

Last week the family crashed the Inner Parlor after winning the fight against the Ebisugawa family in the sky.

What is next for Yasaburo?

***SPOILERS***

The Friday Fellows. The Tanuki's natural enemy as they eat them in a hot pot once a year.

So they are still having problems with Benten, or else just scared that they might be having a problem with Benten.

Yasaburo goes to see someone that is hiding in a drawer who seems to like his frog of a brother (who is giving personal affairs consultancy in his well.) Downstairs it looks like Benten is about to find him. She see's through his transformation and takes him to see the Friday Fellows.

Did we know that Benten was actually a Friday Fellow? I always just thought she was in charge of the restaurant or something. After entertaining them they decide they couldn't eat him even if they wanted because he's too talented. So Yasaburo is saved from the hot pot.

Ahhh one of the guys saved... Isn't that Yasaburo's mother? Yes it is Yasaburo's mother!

After getting bored Benten takes Yasaburo out to look at the moon.

The episode... Didn't really have much to it. More of a character piece with Yasaburo and Benten though personally I don't think it added anymore to either character. If anything it made Benten even more mysterious then she was to begin with.

Is it only me or does Yasaburo look like Keanu Reeves from Bill and Ted?!

Don't get me wrong it is a lovely episode, really sweet and I loved just learning about people and listening to their stories and see them just being themselves. It was a rare moment in anything that you just had people being people. Of course two of the characters are actually magical but besides that it was just normal people talking and having fun.

It was easy to watch, lovely as always and just..... An episode of a program!

I really am not sure what I can say about the episode, it wasn't boring so don't think it was because there isn't anything to talk about, it was just different. As I said a character piece over an adventure or action story.

If anything it is the last part of a three part story starting with Yasaburo going to get the Inner Parlor and ending with him making amends for destroying it in act 2.

The strength of the series is in the characters. They are so lovely it really doesn't matter what the story is doing because you just love being around the characters.

A really nice and simple episode!
