Pokémon : Challenge of the Samurai

Episode 4

Ash now has three Pokémon and has defeated Team Rocket twice. He still has a long, LONG way to go yet but his adventure is truly started!

***SPOILERS***

If they carry on just adding on to the update at the beginning of the episode we'll end up spending the whole 20+ minutes recapping!

Misty is still having problems with bugs, this time its a Weedle.

Ash does seem to be learning a little more about Pokémon as the time goes on, he brings out Pidgeotto to weaken the Weedle before trying to capture it. Poor Misty seems to be a magnet for them as even the Weedle seemed to like her.

Suddenly whilst walking away from the battle Misty is attacked by a Samurai looking for a trainer from Pallet, of course that means Ash. He blocks Ash from catching the Weedle and challenges him to a battle.

Samurai boy has a Pinsir, Ash uses his already tired out Pidgeotto and gets defeated. He won't surrender though, he sends out Metapod, Gods help us. After hardening his Metapod he was able to defeat the Pinsir and then suddenly we have a Metapod against a Metapod. What a wonderful match up.....

Team Rocket are still around, they've got a cardboard "tank" that they are using to stop Beedrill attacks.

Suddenly a Beedrill swarm arrives and steals Ash's Metapod. They manage to escape and find a nest of Kakuna, the Beedrill's have brought Metapod to hatch amongst their Kakuna's it seems. Suddenly the Kakuna's start to hatch into Beedrill's. They just make it to the Samurai's cabin.

Next day Ash arrives to try and save Metapod but is stopped by Team Rocket. "Prepare for trouble!, Make it double!" JESSIE, JAMES!

They aren't the smartest of bad guys as they wake the Beedrills up within seconds because of their stupid motto and fireworks. He uses Team Rocket to get past the Beedrill, diving under their attack with Team Rocket behind them, and his plan works!

Ash tries to get Metapod in his ball but he won't allow it, suddenly he drops Metapod and realizes that he's making excuses for why he left Metapod. To be honest he didn't really leave Metapod so I don't get the whole "running away" stuff. Anyway Metapod jumps at the attacking Beedrill and after defeating it turns into a beautiful Butterfree. Within two episodes its gone past all of its evolution.

Ash uses Butterfree to knock the Beedrill out using sleep powder and down go the Beedrills. They are finally out of Viridian Forest and Ash has been told that he'll meet the Samurai again sometime down the road. Off they go  to Pewter City.

So... So far it doesn't look like the Butterfree is going to have the same motivation now he's evolved as he did as a Caterpie. Surely the point was that he wanted to be beautiful to be accepted by Misty? Or are we just going with him being super speedy evolution boy now?

The Samurai guy was pretty pointless and the Metapod battle was funny but not exactly riveting stuff other than for the joke. I mean to be fair it was just a challenger so it wasn't a terrible thing but it wasn't the most interesting either.

I do like Ash's Pokédex though, it has attitude, it makes me giggle.

We still only have the three Pokémon but we are out of the woods finally and on the path to Pewter City.

Good times lay ahead.

I don't know out of all the episodes so far this one seems pretty... Bog standard and to the point that it just feels... Boring. Not terrible though just slow.

Then again Team Rocket is always good for a laugh, I do love Team Rocket they make me giggle. I loved their "disguise" as a Kakuna. Was never going to work.

It was an alright episode, wasn't too bad. Had fun.

Yeah,....
