One Piece : Captain Usopp Enters

Chapter 23

We had a nice adventure with Gaimon (or Uncle Cauliflower head) last time out on an island full of weird and wonderful creatures.

Now on with the adventures!

***SPOILERS***

Nami wants to plan more, she wants a bigger boat, the boys want food and drink..... I'm not sure which one I agree with.

On the island they are heading for Usopp is looking out to sea, he runs through his village shouting that pirates are attacking but he was joking and has everyone chasing after him. Apparently he does it daily. Whilst hiding up a tree his "Pirate Crew" show up (Piiman and Ninjin two boys from the village) he asks where Tamanegi is who suddenly arrives shouting at the top of his voice about pirates. Of course he means Luffy (Nami's ship still has Buggys pirate flag on it.) They go to fight the pirates and save the village!

Of course they hide to keep an eye on them but Zoro notices them right away. Good old Zoro!

Usopp introduces himself as "The great pirate fleet leader, Usopp, who is in charge of the security of this village! I'm also known as "Captain Usopp"!" Apparently.

Yeah he's lying...

Later in the village he tells them about a mansion and that there is a girl there who could possibly give them a ship, but the girl is sick. Nami decides not to ask the girl for the ship and when it looks like they might leave Usopp asks if he can join their crew.

The girl in the mansion (Kaya) asks to see Usopp...

So we have our first volunteer not that it looks like Luffy is going to say yes. Or that he wanted to say yes at that point.

Usopp the liar I'm guessing?

So what does this girl Kaya want with him I wonder?

He does seem like a very interesting character, not only does he look weird but he seems to have aspirations of being a pirate.... Yet wants to protect his village from pirates...

Strange man.

I like that he had a crew of three kiddie pirates, that is pretty funny. Apparently their names mean Onion, Green Pepper and Carrot in English, I think its hilarious. Then again I am easily amused.

So we've gone to a village to find a ship, I agree with Nami that we need one and to be honest right now we are floating about in two row boats so a ship is a must have. After entering the village Mr Brilliant Zoro notices Usopp and his "crew" spying on him. They make friends and whilst Luffy is eating Usopp tells them about a sick girl in a mansion who might be able to give them a ship. Nami decides against it (taking something off a sick girl, no way!) and when they are leaving Usopp asks to join them. Meanwhile the sick girl wants Usopp for some reason.

Usopp is a bit of a mystery isn't he?

The chapter was alright, it did well in introducing Usopp and his quirky habits and I'm not sure why they are so against him joining the crew (Luffy asked a man who has spent 20 years in a box to join them why not this guy?) but I really liked him.

I just don't like the way he's drawn.

Interesting times are ahead it seems!
