Mawaru Penguindrum : Even if your love is false

Episode 8

Last episode all hope for Project M seemed to be at a loss as Tabuki got engaged to Yuri so Ringo decides to go one step further and bare Mr Tabuki a child....

Yep it went there!

***SPOILER***

We start were we left off... Just thankfully for our sanity and possibly Ringo's herself Mr Tabuki isn't there.

In class the next day and Mr Tabuki is tired and he gets questioned by Shou and Kanba. It turns out that not only did he suddenly get engaged he's moving in with her right this second! Back at the empty apartment and Ringo really isn't taking it well. She still hasn't given up though.

Back at home and Kanba has decided it is time to just snatch the diary from Ringo. Himari walks in on their conversation and jokingly moans about them not seeing her so often.

Next day and Ringo is at the zoo on her own looking at the penguins. She starts to remember about going to the zoo with her family, the phone charm again. Suddenly her dad walks into the shop with another little girl. He asks his new women to marry him and to be a family with poor Ringo watching on.

Another dream sequence, this time Mr Tabuki is being hung by Yuri. Yes it is a wild west dream now for some strange reason but the way Ringo is drawn is bloody awesome. Ringo has some imagination that is for damn sure! Poor girl. I really do feel so sorry for Ringo.

The women with the black Pingo is still talking about Project M herself, but what her Project M is who knows.

Shou has helped Ringo move back into her house. Ringo tells him as long as he does one more thing for her she'll give him the diary. We don't hear what and she heads off to see Tabuki in his new apartment on her own whilst Yuri is out of town. Shou starts to think Project M means "Murder-Suicide" and thinks she has a bomb in her box. Shou follows her all the way to Tabuki's new apartment and whilst Ringo and Tabuki are talking he's admiring the new apartment.

It turns out that what is in the box is a cake, a curry Mont Blanc. Suddenly a Typhon hits, the cake had sleeping pills or something in it as Tabuki, Shou and #2 are all out cold. Ringo drags Tabuki into the bedroom and dresses up as Yuri before.... Doing what we always hoped she wouldn't. Shou walks in and gets told about Project M or Project Maternity.

When the power suddenly comes back on Yuri is buzzing to be let in and Ringo and Shou have to run not to be caught. She finally tells Shou about her "fate" and how she is trying to keep her family together and in the fighting she drops the diary, when she picks it up Shou's voice "you're the craziest bitch I know" runs through her head and whilst she's standing around upset someone on a bike snatches half the diary from her. And whilst trying to save Ringo from being ran over Shou is instead.

What a really sad episode! Poor Shou. I really do hope he and Ringo get together they are so cute together.

They are the best two characters as well I love episodes about them, Ringo is such a sad character, I still just want to hug her. The poor thing is living a life she thinks she needs to live to make other people happy, no one seems to care what makes her happy and neither does she. Maybe losing her diary will make her decide to think about herself.

And there was a moment when she was going on about them "faking" a family (Shou, Kanba and Himari) Shou seemed to get really upset with that so I wonder what that is all about.

Tabuki is such a helpless character, he is really sweet though and I hope we get a nice scene with him and Yuri that is totally real and not from Ringo's perspective. The only time she's ever really been seen away from being Little Miss Perfect I think the emphasis was off because the character was interacting with Ringo and I'd like to be able to like Yuri. Though it would have been nicer if she'd moved into Tabuki's modest little apartment...

The thing with this anime is it started off with Kanba/Shou/Himari and the search for the Penguindrum but other then small pieces (the only reason Shou and Ringo are together is because of this search, the whole Project M thing) really so far its been a story (a very sad one) about a girl that is always living in the shadow of a deceased sibling. The saddest thing is all her crazy behavior that makes us laugh and drives the story ever onward is all because no one seems to have stopped and thought really hard about her as an individual. She's found friends that probably would but she's so wrapped up in Project M that she can't see it. I love Ringo as a character and I feel more then just sorry for her.

Again another good episode, a tight story this week whereas last week it was a bit all over the place.

It really helps when they only focus on one aspect of the main plot because sometimes it gets really confusing what is happening where especially as there seems to be so many different strands of mystery but somehow they are all one in the same.

Such a confusing mystery, but such a wonderful anime!
