Episode 172
Last episode saw Lucy being tortured brutally by Sabertooths Minerva in the day 4 challenge. How low will Saber stoop?!
Now on with the matches!
***SPOILERS***
We start the episode were last episode left off. Fairy Tail (and Cheria) running to the aid of a badly beaten Lucy.
Minerva stands behind a wall of Sabertooth gloating at Fairy Tail, laughing (well sneering) at what she has done to Lucy. She'll learn not to piss off Erza and hurt a member of Fairy Tail like that, I bet you that!
And Erza let them know that!
Again showing off Erza's strength of character to look into the face of someone who tortured her friend and has no regret yet all she did was warn them. No fighting. It is one of the things I think everyone loves about Erza, especially as she can have her wild and funny moments but she does keep the group balanced (most of the rest of them are hot heads).
Whilst the team sit at Lucy's bedside (both A and B) Makarov comes to tell them the good/bad news. With Raven Tail being disqualified Fairy Tail must become one team and choose its 5 members again. As Natsu swears revenge for Lucy the strongest team Fairy Tail could muster are put together.
Laxus, Natsu, Gray, Gajeel and Erza.
The match ups are announced.

Arcadios is still planning on how he will kidnap Lucy, what does he want with her?
So the first match is, as the title suggests, Ichiya and the rabbit v Bacchus and Rocker. Now comes that most anticipated moment when we find out who is in that Rabbit suit!

OK so explanation, basically in Edolas you had a counterpart so there was a Edo Fairy Tail a Edo Erza who hated Fairy Tail and an Edo Ichiya who was actually an Exceed like Happy. His name was Nichiya, when Edolas sucked all the magic out the Exceed all got sucked out too onto Earth and thus Nichiya and Ichiya became known to each other.
Phew.
Cue a soppy, rather wonderfully drawn, flashback on how Ichiya and Nichiya met. It is quite sweet. With lots of "perfume"-ing and "men"-ing.
Unfortunately when they end their story Bacchus takes down Nichiya straight off the bat.
Amazingly Ichiya wins using his muscle man perfume... And I need to get the brain bleach out once more thanks to Mr Ichiya.
And now we gear up for Lyon and Yuka v Kagura and Millianna. But that will be for next time.
I really did enjoy this episode, it started off seriously, well it had to after last week, but it didn't flounder in heavy storyline stuff, it went off into a fun little battle between Ichiya and Quatro Puppy. The arc really needs to keep going from the heavy depressing stuff to more light humored stuff and this episode really balanced out!
I'm not sure how I will live after seeing the Ichiya stuff though.... I mean..... Ichiya.... Men.....
It is nice that Fairy Tail have really been shown to come together through this arc though, and it is nice to see that the love Fairy Tail have actually does exist in the other guilds, Fairy Tail draws its strength from its love (though they also do have slightly more powerful Mages) and it is nice that others pull from that same strength as well.
I do love Blue Pegasus though.
To be honest from the "Next Week" bit it looks like Lyons match is going to be a short one tacked onto the front of the Fairy Tail/Sabertooth battle. I really wish they wouldn't do this but that looks like what will happen. Either way it is starting to get fun!
