Nourin : The Smile you Showed me

Episode 4

So far I have to say that this series has been a bit of a weird one for me. It started off with a lot of promise and the last two episodes have confused me a little. With no real point to the stories the comedy and the episodes have fallen flat.

There is a lot to love in the series but there is also a problem with it growing stale if we don't get something to get into. And fast.

***SPOILERS***

A much better episode, makes the last two look like strange filler episodes.

So we learn the real reason Ringo retired was that she lost the ability to show emotion, so it isn't that she's a miserable cow she just can't smile.

That is interesting psychologically, it is a different story to be telling. Someone who has lost the ability to emote through over use of fake emotions to make others happy. It gives the series a story to be getting at, making Ringo happy, bypassing those emotional road blocks and getting her to smile.

It is actually very sweet and much more like the first episode.

I also like that they've all made an effort to help, they've brought her to their project and included her.

You see the last few episodes haven't made sense because they went from introducing a character to making you dislike her because she's a cow to the characters that you already care about. She has an attachment to one of them meaning that character you are having problems liking is suddenly trying to isolate herself with one other character at the expense of two you already like.

The story was a much nicer one as well, it made sense and had a nice story to it. The others have been a little jumpy and there hasn't been much of a point to them other then getting cheap laughs at times. But this one actually had a nice flow and gave us something to go on.

I do like the dynamics of the friends, I just wish that whether she can smile or not Ringo will integrate herself into the group instead of isolating herself outside of it. I mean Kochou isn't part of their group but she works better with them then Ringo does.

There just is no need, not even with this explanation, for Ringo not to want to make friends. In fact seeing she can't smile any more and has had to leave her world wouldn't it be better for her to trying and find friends? I mean there is a reason why she came here and if she ignores people being nice to her she's not going to get anywhere now is she?

The series is definitely and interesting one and a good one, I just feel sometimes the stories don't go anywhere and they lose their importance by being..... Strange.
