Tokyo Ravens : Promise

Episode 1

The words Supernatural, Romance and Action....

This could either be something really rather awesome or fall into the "meh" category!

****SPOILERS****

So Natsume is meeting her Familiar and then we suddenly end up in school with two guys.

Harutora is being bothered by Hokuto about whether or not he's decided to be a Onmyo mage, it seems that he isn't very good  at magic even though his family seem to be rather important and he's pretty sure his sister (who I believe is Natsume) will become the head of their family.

It seems that Hokuto and his other friend Touji believe in him a lot more then he does himself which is nice to see. Hokuta is a lot more.... Excitable and childish about it whilst Touji is calm and tries to get him to see his worth in a better way.

So Natsume is back but she isn't his sister it seems.... I think I've gotten myself a little lost to be fair. She's quite a cute character to be honest I really like her!

There is then a really cool action scene where we saw one of the Twelve Divine Generals, a State Onmyo Mage First Class in action. Tokyo is obviously a very dangerous place to be!

So the first scene explained, she's in the head family he's in the branch family and it is tradition for branch family members to become familiars to the head family members.

Hokuto is all dressed up for the festival and looks really pretty to be honest! It is pretty cute though! She makes Harutora win her a prize, he spent over a thousand yen in doing so and she just wanted the ribbon so that Harutora would call her cute!

Whilst they are playing with bubbles some weird looking girl arrives at the festival.

After upsetting Hokuto the weird girl sneaks up on them, she's looking for Natsume (and Touji leads her to believe that Harutora is Natsume) and we find out she's the youngest of the Twelve Divine Generals, the prodigy Suzuka Dairenji.

She wants him to help with her experiment but before she does anything some sort of barrior stops her and she is under arrest for using banned magic apparently. Pretty awesome that Suzuka Dairenji!

After defeating the bureau investigating her Hokuto runs up and she finds out that the man she's captured actually isn't the person she's looking for, she tells him to tell Natsume that she's going to kill her and then kisses Harutora just to upset Hokuto.

Let me at her! LET ME AT HER!

Ohhhh what a horrible character.

This was a lot better then I thought it was going to be to be honest, I tend to look at the word romance and shiver a little bit as sometimes the "romance" angle can be too much in your face. This time out it wasn't too bad to be frank!

I adore all three of the (so far) main characters, Harutora is interesting and I can't wait to see how he develops, I do hope he gets together with Hokuto who was probably my favorite character in the world (so far this seasons of anime) and who was adorable. Touji is pretty cool and laid back. I have a feeling though that we might move away from them two later in the series, I could be wrong but that is my feeling. Natsume is cute but still a bit of a mystery though at least she acts and looks normal.

As for the Twelve Divine Generals, man they look so awesome! And Dairenji was super cool.

The series has already got my interest and I can't wait to see how they develop this story. The action looks pretty awesome and it looks different.

I'm actually really excited for the series as a whole, it could be one of the more consistent series in the season.

Really impressed so far and want to see episode two just to see what happens with Hokuto. Poor, poor Hokuto! Harutora needs to become a Onmyo mage just for her!

  1. In the "Great Disaster," Japan has been thrown into chaos by onmyouji. Harutora Tsuchimikado was born into an onmyouji family, but has no power whatsoever. His estranged childhood friend appears one day to take him up on a promise he made long ago to become her familiar, a shikigami.
