Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka : Yes, Hair in Pigtails

Episode 3

We had the great pleasure of meeting Seraphim, a Vampire Ninja, who came to ask for Eu's help but instead ended up being Ayumu's servant (even if she doesn't think much of him.)

Haruna is still trying to get her magic back but until then she had a hard lesson to learn last week, which in turn taught us a little more about the real Eu behind that armor.

How will our favorite Zombie fair this week?

***SPOILERS***

We start with Haruna trying to transform, the transformation seems to work, she's in the grave yard fighting Megalo and gives them her kick that isn't really a kick....... And gets beaten by a pudding. Yeah for some reason I think she might be dreaming don't you?

It is quite a weird dream she's having fighting a giant pudding...

She also has a very deadly alarm clock...

Ayumu isn't looking happy with the clear skies and sunshine streaming through his window.

Still with that disclaimer it is awesome!

Sera still doesn't really like Ayumu taking his offer of fried eggs the wrong way. We also find out that Ayumu's parents are away travelling and that is why he is turning into such a "unfortunate" youth according to Sera.

Haruna finds the last pudding in the fridge but soon a very funny Jenga fight between Haruna, Sera and Eu as Eu wants the pudding too so Sera joined in to win it for her. The conversation turns to Ayumu....

Ayumu is at school having trouble with the sunlight and his best friend is having problems with girls not wanting to go bowling with him... The girls who all turned him down overhear him telling Ayumu how boring they would be so Ayumu agree's to go.

The Jenga game is... Yeah... Haruna uses the chainsaw to hit the last piece out and draw the game so they start Mahjong. Then twister.... More talk on Ayumu and how he is a pervert, and they get bored and go out for sushi.

Ayumu's friend is totally clueless about girls in such a cute way. They do seem to be quite good friends, unfortunately Sera, Eu and Haruna end up in the lane next to them. His friend tells Ayumu what kind of pants he thinks they all wear (Sera white, Haruna stripy and Eu.... black thong.... what the hell am I watching? And why am I telling you what he said?)

Orito is the name of his friend, this is the first time they said it this episode must remember it. Anyway Ayumu gets up to go to the toilet and it seems that Haruna notices that he is there. Yeah she notices and comes over to harass Ayumu.... Masked Ayumu? Is that the best disguise he can come up with?!

They tell Orito that they live with Ayumu and he seems to... Die... Really funny scene, his friendship with Orito is so cute. He goes into shock, but he is a perv and it is very funny.

Some reason when Ayumu says he'll be turned into a sandbag they show a lego man falling to pieces. Anyway back to the bowling and Orito challenges Ayumu to a bowling competition, if he wins he'll live with Ayumu but he loses. He then gets a text to from a girl called Kyoko who seems to be in the hospital. For such a perv Orito seem's to be a gentleman towards Kyoko, apparently she is a victim of the serial killer. It turns out when she gets better she'll be leaving to live with her grandfather. She seems to really like Ayumu even if he can't remember her from middle school.

Ayumu questions her about the serial killer and she says that she saw very pretty blue eyes and someone the same age as her with gauntlets and silver hair... With a little prompting from Ayumu she basically described Eu.

Back home and I'm not sure what Sera and Haruna are playing... Some sort of tennis with a sword and a chainsaw... Whilst they are fighting it out for the pudding Eu eats it.

I have to say there is some strange love for this episode. I don't usually like over the top pervy things (look at how upset I got last chapter of Fairy Tail for pervy jokes) but it kinda works in this. I mean talking to Kyoko about the serial killer is not only serious for us but serious for Ayumu, he is also a victim (unknown to everyone else) and wants revenge. Yet when questioning her about it we have the whole joke about the twin tails and him staring at her breasts... Personally I wouldn't usually find that funny but it just made me giggle the whole time.

I don't know maybe because the whole premise of the show is just silly in general BUT it has a story behind it that grips you. It equals itself out.

Orito and Ayumu should always be together, they are a hilarious duo, and I really enjoyed watching the three girls battle it out over pudding. I do think this is important character building as silly as that sounds. "What kind of character building do you get from them playing stupid games?" you ask...

At the end of the episode we're told that Kyoko thinks someone like Eu has killed her, in fact as far as we know she described Eu and only Eu. But this whole episode we've seen her playing Jenga, going bowling and fighting in a friendly non-aggressive way over a pudding. After we hear Kyoko's description we even go to her sitting in the garden with drawings over her face! Now we are being lead to believe that she killed this girls family but she's one of our main characters and we know she abhors death and she saved Ayumu. Thing is before now she's not really done anything that would really stop us believing that she could kill people being a necromancer and all. But this episode hits home that actually she seems quite sweet and (in the sense of the people around her) normal.

Anyway I loved the episode, it made me laugh but also made me quite sad. I really felt for Kyoko and even within three episodes you feel a sudden jolt when you know that one of the main characters is already facing tough times. In a lot of programs this won't work because you'll have no "bond" with these characters but to be honest I think with episode 2 and this one you do have a bond of some sort with Eu. I hear Kyoko describing Eu and remember her words last week about death and her reaction to Haruna wishing death on Ayumu.

I really do want to find out how Eu is connected to the serial killer though. Maybe I'm wrong and she IS the serial killer!

So far the series really makes you laugh, even though there is a serious element present you can't help but just giggle along at it. The show doesn't take itself that seriously and neither should you else you probably will miss the joke in general.

Though I feel something more... Dangerous and serious and sad is heading our way...

(And the only blog this week on time!)
