Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W : Super Deity Apocalypse

Episode 3

Last week there was trouble at Celaeno Library and we left our heroes on their way to deal with the bad guys (after Nyaruko got showered up).

How will they cope with the first real bad guys of the season?!

***SPOILER***

Isle of Stars within the Lake of Dread is the city of Alaozar.

That is our destination. It all looks so impressive then Nyaruko phones Tamao up and pretends to be doing naughty things with Mahiro... Whilst they are surrounded by people trying to attack them.

Yes this is our Nyaruko!

Zhar and Lloiger, that is the names of the bad guys and it turns out the book they were looking for possibly could be the book that Nyaruko has and hasn't given back yet.

We get a glimpse of Myarko and Nyahiro in Nyaruko's happy future where she is telling her children about the event and Kuko, Hasuta and Shanta all die. Remember them? Those are the names she wanted to call them all the way back in the episode I disliked so much...

So whilst they are talking about their "future plans" Zhar and Lloiger sneak up on them.

Thinking that they had defeated them they turned transformed together, but before they have time to do anything interesting Nyaruko tries to attack. It turns out that they were after the book Mahiro had in his pocket and forgot about, a memo pad. They started scribbling in the book apparently when you write in it with its matching pen it is a book of dreams... He creates a great monkey.

They are basically space hippies. Nonexistent Deity Plan, to make a endangered deity so that they can fund raise for it.

After they realize that they can't really take him on his own (Kuko and Nyaruko take on the monkey that is) Nyaruko asks Hasuta to help.

They transform him into actually a kick ass guy who takes the monkeys arm off right away.

Three-for-one Space CQC!

And for a change it is Mahiro that saves the day by erasing the monkey description out of the book. Go on Mahiro!

The episode was really good, I liked it but there were little bits at the beginning that jarred. Some of the jokes about Mahiro/Nyaruko seem very forced this series whereas they were the best part of the season before. Plus with Kuko becoming more and more..... Girlish the whole joke seems to have run its course, and the only reason it has is because it isn't being played originally now. It is just one cliche after another. It doesn't seem natural in the way it is being written.

But that is the only minor problem I have.

I liked this story it was the kind of story that the show does best, the whole "foreshadowing" and the silly reason for there to be a really horrible bad guy. I loved the story. I also loved how we got to see serious Hasuta. Also Shanta becoming a bit more into play, ok he just helped Mahiro but it is nice to have him there.

Plus it is the first real time that Mahiro has saved the day, the ending might have been a big joke but it was nice that Mahiro had to save them and he saved them with his brains. The only other time he came close to saving them was when he body swapped with Nyaruko.

I just wish they'd calm them all down and write them more like they were in the first series. Hasuta is the best one so far this season, Nyaruko is the same but she's obsessed on one point instead of being eccentrically in love with Mahiro. Kuko... I just don't know, it is starting to depress me though she was more like the old Kuko this episode with her "Boy.... Nice Catch" line.

You have to love a bit of foreshadowing though...

The series has a bit of a different feel then last time around and I think it is rubbing a little. Last series felt like a series of episodes, this seems to feel more like... I don't know.

I'm still enjoying it though and next weeks looks good again!
