Haiyore! Nyaruko-san : Mother Attacks!

Episode 4

Last episode when Mahiro thought he had gotten rid of Nyaruko and Kuko suddenly they invite themselves to stay with him even longer.

The house is a mess and he has two aliens living with him what more could possibly go wrong?

Well maybe his mother arriving in 40 seconds!

***SPOILER***

So obviously the story starts were it left off, Mahiro's mum is on her way home and he has to explain why two aliens are living with them. Especially one that thinks he's going to make her pregnant just by looking at her.

He kicks them out, tidies up then finds them sitting on his sofa once more. Leaving them is probably better then what his mother walked in on which looked, well, yeah.

The introduction to his mother is quite funny, and with a flash of forks we find out that she is a monster hunter (with throwing forks). She seems to love Shanktak as well who is even more pathetic then ever.

Then we see a evil looking lady with green hair talking to herself. Well obviously she's talking to someone but as far as it looks she's talking to herself.

Mahiro's mother is just as weird as anyone else in this anime, hugging her so to replenish her son-onium. She also is obsessed with video games, as is Kuko!

So everything gets a bit... Ya know with these lot, and a lot gets explained, like how Mahiro's mum has been doing this since college and Nyaruko actually calms down and talks at a reasonable pace. His mum also says that they can stay if they are planning on keeping the world safe.

Mum quickly tells Nyaruko that they should slow down their relationship (hers and Mahiro's) and she goe into a bit of a sulk. Suddenly everyone is making Mahiro make the tea, poor Mahiro in a house full of women being bossed around.

But what is the green haired lady in the catsuit up to? She's outside their city!

Oh and who is this cutey with the blonde hair?! Well after a load of fighting in the house the little cutey bumps into Mahiro. After helping him up the little blonde one runs off.  After school Mahiro runs into the little blonde one again, not so much run like last time the boy just fell in front of him. Mahiro takes him for a burger and he fell in love with it and it turns out (after a fated meeting with Nyaruko and Kuku that the blonde boy is Hasta another alien that knows the other two.

Not only are Hasta, Nyaruko, Kuku and Mahiro in the restaurant but also the green haired women. Oh and Hasta is looking for mummy!

Another cliff hanger, so finally a story arc.

The story has finally really calmed down, it isn't as eccentric as before or all over the place. There is a story to be told and the pacing has finally been found because the story is running over more than one episode.

Now I LOVE the 3 episodes before this but it is nice  when it calms down a little.

This is were the spoilers in the title sequence annoyed me, I was waiting for this lady to come into the series since episode one knowing she has to be in some way a good guy and here she is technically at this moment a bad guy. But the credits already made it obvious she's a good guy so were is the real menace in her character?!

When you get over the whole "She's obviously not going to be bad for long" part of it actually there is a mystery there and it gets you excited for more!

I love Hasta. He is already part of the mixture of the characters, he seems to be quite sweet yet at the moment you have no clue why he wants Mahiro's mother.

The jokes aren't coming all over the place and in your face anymore. Even though personally I love that style I also like it when it calms down. It is still funny but it isn't waving its eccentricity in your face. It made the big bang and now its slowed down.

Still love all the characters they are just friendly, there is no character you really dislike. Maybe because it is a comedy and most of the characters are more stereotypes then anything else. I love their relationships and the irony between the relationships. Nyaruko is such a misunderstood character but you are starting to see a calmer and more emotional side to her.

The problem I foresee with the anime in general is that you fall in love with this "Nyaruko loves Mahiro but Mahiro doesn't love Nyaruko" story but we already know that there is some sort of possible attraction there but her personality is overbearing. That is where half the comedy lies. The problem we now have is that if she slows down and shows a different side of her, yeah I might be in the minority  but it just wouldn't be so funny anymore. That dynamic, and the dynamic then with her and Kuko would totally change and in my opinion it wouldn't be changing for the better.

Either way at the moment it is just a lot of fun, but you can see a seriousness about the story coming up. It might not be straight serious but it'll have a plot overarcing more then a few episodes and that is what every series really needs to develop characters.
