Neverwhere : The Angel Islington

Last episode Richard, Door and Hunter were told how to reach the Angel Islington by the Earl. Marquis looks like he has betrayed his group to Croup and Vandermar, and there is some sort of curse that stops Hunter from leaving London Below.

Richard and Door are in the British Museum looking for a picture of an angel so that they can locate the angel Islington. Unfortunately they walk into a room full of pictures of angels. Do they find the one they need?

***SPOILERS***

Richard has seen a problem more important then the problem of the photos, his finacée Jessica. This is the exhibition she was going on at him about in the first episode but they need to get into the exhibition to find this picture and the Lord Islington.

Jessica is her usual bossy self from the first episode. Very over the top and worried. She is also single again now and Door is happy because she's seen mountains of food. Door is sure that people won't notice them but Jessica recognizes Richard from the other side of the room even though she can't actually remember who he is. Richard breaks the news that they've been engaged for 18 months, and it confuses Jessica as much as the situation confused Richard in the first place.

The painting they were looking for was the centerpiece of the exhibition and Door and Richard run into the picture leaving the rest of the up worlders totally confused as to what happened. And like in most things what the human mind (adult usually) doesn't understand it blocks out and they go on with their life as Door and Richard enter the world of Islington in the heart of London Below.

Islington welcomes both Richard and Door to his halls, Benedict Cumberbatch sounding as wonderful as always.

Croup and Vandermar get a visit from the Marquis. We learn that their base is in a disused hospital, which is a brilliant setting for them two, you couldn't imagine a better place for them really.

Richard and Door are being welcomed graciously by Islington, we get the confirmation of the rambled information the Earl gave us that they can only get to Islington through the picture once. We get a history on the wine that Islington has, from Atlantis apparently.

So the question that Door wants to know is why did someone kill her father, Richard asks for his life back.

And with a few questions answered he sends them back to the museum and we get to find out what it is Vandermar wants which I don't think anyone wanted to know. The Marquis and them two decide to do a 3 questions each thing. Marquis's questions are answered vaguely, we find out that the Marquis is looking out for Door because her father looked out for him, that Door is with the up sider because of sentimentality and Vandermar ruins everything by asking them to find out what number he's thinking of.

The Marquis's meeting with Croup and Vandermar doesn't seem to end well.

Richard and Door are drunk and Hunter is not very happy with them when they finally get back.

I have to admit that Benedicts voice as wonderful as it is also made me laugh at times, he wanted to do mystical I guess but I had to giggle. I loved him to pieces though and always knew one day he'd be a angel in something. He is an angel to me anyway.

Still Richard is my favorite character he is so wonderfully human, he wants his life back, he's worked for that life but he's coming to terms with the fact that he might never actually get home again. James McAvoy brings so much life to the character and you feel so sorry for him even though he is so positive about everything anyway.

To be honest the story is about helping Door but I feel that I only care about her story because Richard cares. There isn't that much to her so far other than knowing that she wants to find out what happened to her father.

And still the voices are wonderful.
