Chapter 318
The showdown between Dragon Slayers Gajeel (the Iron Dragon) and Rogue (the Shadow Dragon).
Who'll come out on top? And what is that shadow talking to Rogue?
It turns out very little of the questions asked in the last chapter were answered.
First of all we went back to Team Natsu running about in the castle, I'm guessing trying to get out. They seem to have lost Arcadios and Yukino though. Whilst Natsu and his friends fight the guards they've come face to face with Mira runs back to find them.
Back to the fight of the Dragon Slayers and Rogue has been possessed by the shadows. The chapter ends with Gajeel sucking up the Shadows as Natsu did with Laxus's lighting. Gajeel then becomes the Iron Shadow Dragon Slayer.
And that is your lot.
I'm not sure how I can word my disappointment. It isn't that the chapter wasn't good, but it had nothing meaningful in it. So Team Natsu have been cornered by guards. Why has Arcadios and Yukino disappeared? Last episode we were seeing Arcadios question what Future Lucy's motives were, this week he's just disappeared.
As for Gajeel v Rogue, the fight was just boring. They had Rogue dominate and then Gajeel ate the shadows. Big wow! For a chapter titled after their battle you'd hope for a little more.
The chapter wasn't a bad one, it just felt a bit of a anti-climax after the last couple weeks. They built up tension and drama just for the chapter that promised a bit of a end for one thread to be "building" up for the next chapter. I don't even think the next one will be about their fight as its called "Knight" which (especially seeing people have called him Knight in this chapter) kind of hints at it being about Arcadios.
The two big moments in the chapter was Mira going to find Arcadios, its something I think Lucy would have done, I don't know why she didn't. Not Future Lucy but present Lucy.
The second was Fro running to help Rogue after he realized he was possessed. Just like little Fro.
I didn't dislike the chapter I was just a bit let down as I was hoping for a little more of anything really.
