Chapter 37
So the boys have to protect Kaya who can't run on, Usopp and Zoro are on their way to find them and Luffy is taking on Kuro.
How will this all end?!
***SPOILERS***
So we are getting Luffy v Kuro! Good stuff.
Luffy tries a good idea of grabbing onto both of Kuro's arms but he manages to swing Luffy off. Kuro is actually pretty cool, he dodges all the blows that Luffy tries to land on him and ends up standing on top of Luffy's out stretched arm!
So it looks like Kuro has the upper hand!
Apparently the purpose of his plan is to eliminate the name of Captain Kuro forever... Turns out that Kuro basically got bored of making plans up for pirates and we get a flashback to the day he left the ship.
So Kuro basically went by himself to the attacking boat of Marines and killed the whole crew, is that Lieutenant Morgan? Whoever it was, was hypnotised by Django, along with a member of Kuro's crew, to believe the member of Kuro's crew was actually Kuro and was to blame for the ship full of dead Marines.
Thus as far as anyone as concerned Kuro was caught and executed.
After hearing the story Luffy comes to the conclusion that Kuro isn't a real pirate, he uses a giant rock to break the cat claws and gives Kuro a smack on the head.
His back story doesn't really leave me liking him any more. I mean he was a pirate captain and he decided to go and swindle a sick girl (well OK just a family because he wasn't expecting the parents to die) just so he can slink off and live in peace. Well why the hell start as a pirate then?
Makes no sense.
And the bland character becomes even more.... Bland!
It did make me like Django even more, I know he's mainly just a funny character but he has character, which is more then what Kuro has! And I will continue to call him Kuro because that is his bloody name.
To be fair if they gave him a tiny bit of character Kuro could be terrifying! His cat claws where badass even if they are now gone.
Actually I'll give them that the way they ended up having Luffy figure out and get his first real punch on Kuro was good, I can't wait to see what happens at the end.
And unexpected Morgan return for the flashback! So that is how he got the metal structure over his jaw.
Kuro is terrifying!
Just boring!
Loved the chapter, shame about the character!
