DWM 450 : A Battle of Wits Desert Island

I was reading my Doctor Who Magazine today (latest issue 450) and the battle of the wits this month was basically two lists of Doctor Who stories they'd like to be stuck on a desert island with. So I thought to do my own!

1. The Two Doctors
Johnny Candon included this episode into his list, I'm not sure if its for the same reason. The Two Doctors really is one of my all time favorite episodes of Who. I love having my favorite Doctor and favorite companion meeting. I loved the comedy aspects as well as the action and the serious side. Sontarian are one of my favorite bad guys, I love it when there is just one Sontaran up to mischief! The whole dynamic of actors was simply superb!

2. Vincent and the Doctor
One of the most brilliant episodes I have ever watched, it was such a sweet and emotional episode and cemented my love for Matt Smiths Doctor. A truly wonderful episode and one that manages to make me cry and laugh with every watching.

3.The Happiness Patrol
I can see why so many people dislike this episode but for me it was just a fun episode to watch. The premise behind it was interesting and even the stupider ideas where interesting. I really loved watching the episode and so happy I didn't listen to people telling me not to buy the DVD.

4. Spearhead from Space
I really enjoy this episode and it has a special place in my heart purely for being the first classic Who DVD I bought. Plus it had a lovely darker side to it.

5. A Christmas Carol
This is really a masterpiece, I love this episode so much. Everything about it is Christmassy and every time I watch it I think of Christmas. Its a wonderfully put together episode and not only that it takes apart a classic story and reinvents it in such a heartwarmingly sweet way. Everything from the flying fish to Sardick I loved.

6. The Five Doctors
Maybe just maybe I'm a sentimental fool but I loved the interaction between the four Doctors in this episode, and all the companions. Of course made even better by Patrick Troughton and Nicolas Courtney being paired up. Its everything I hope the 50th anniversary will be like. A handful of beloved monsters, the Master being cheeky, the Doctors showing how clever they are, the companions rolling their eyes at their Doctor... Its a perfect story for fans.

7. The Time Warrior
I just adore this classic Sontaran episode, as I said above (or hinted or whatever) I love the Sontarans I think they are a wonderful species if only because you only need the one of them to cause maximum chaos. And not only that but it being Sarah Janes first episode, the historic setting and it being a Pertwee episode make it a must have if I am stuck on a desert island!

8. The Mysterious Planet
The first installment of the Trial of the Timelords. I do love the whole trial to begin with, Colin Bakers cheeky digs at the Valeyard is sweet. The story itself isn't too bad and I was hooked the first time I watched it, I've been hooked everytime I watch it. It truly is one of my favorite episodes.

Book : Touched by an Angel
I really do like this book, I think it was the best Weeping Angels story by far. It was sweet and sad and you felt for all the characters. The Angels where also very scary even though they where right in the background of the whole story. I do like a lot of the Eleventh Doctor stories but this really does have to be a personal favorite just because it was such a touching and well put together story with one of Moffats most iconic villians.

I don't really have a item I'd want to take with me other than maybe a talking Dalek plushie I do love my nieces and seeing she steals my stuff all the time I might have to steal hers!
