Fairy Tail : The Nine Demon Gates

Chapter 357

We were introduced to what looks to be the most scary adversaries our guild will EVER come up against.

Mass destruction is only the beginning, the magical world is now without a council (which to be honest at times might not be a BAD thing) and without guidance! The war with Tartarus is on.

***SPOILERS***

So we have Franmalth of the Armored Shell, Torafusa of the Darkness, Ezel of the Doujigiri, Ryougetsuten Seira, Reiseiten Kyouka, Black Monk Ki-Su, Silver of Absolute Zero and of course Jackal... Oh and someone called Tempesta (did we see that one last week?)

Those are the Nine Demon Gates, and hell is upon us all...

We finally find out the total death count was 119 not just the 9 members of the council, we also find out that Laxus and gang are working for Yajima's restraunt. Suddenly they are attacked by the last of the Nine Demon Gates, he calls himself Calamity but I'm guessing he's called Tempesta.

He attacks Yajima, it seems that the Nine Demon Gates are after anyone who has ever been on the council, or maybe going after the strongest wizards? His attack is blocked by Freed and Bickslow but they (and Ever) are no match for Tempesta. He gets his hands on Yajima and just when we think it is all over Laxus returns.

Now this is going to end well!

It is nice to have a face and name to each of the Nine Demon Gates.

Franmalth looks like the "comedy" character, you always have to have one. The rest are interesting enough I guess, probably will look a lot cooler and be more impressive when they actually start doing something. Right now obviously they just all look like generic.... trying to be impressive and stand out bad guys. And I'm not the only person who thought that Ryougetsuten was Minerva was I?

It is getting exciting and I like that we are kind of seeing it all start on their side of things and not Fairy Tails, it is interesting because we get to see the calamities and the horrible things first hand instead of being told about them. I loved the drama that made last week with Doranbolt and Lahar (LAHAR *sob*) and this week with Yajima. They are all characters we love but seeing what happens instead of being told what happens makes it a lot more real.

I'm really interested to see how this goes and Laxus can't be taken out this early surely? Then again one of the Nine Demon Gates can't be taken out before the war starts, I do wonder how this will end!

And here was me thinking that after the Grand Magic Games we'd get Laxus's father being the main focus... Pah! Though I don't know how they'll carry on after what looks like the biggest story they've told so far!

Really enjoyed the chapter once more and very good focus on building drama. This arc is going to be one hell of a ride but I will NOT be happy (repeat in BIG FLASHING CAPITALS THE NOT) if they are rolling out Laxus now and he won't be seen again. Was hoping Mira, Erza and Laxus would all come together with the Master to win this war won't be happy to see either of the three strongest members of the Guild get overlooked!

Sooo much excitement and I'm working next week so have to wait till I finish work to read the chapter!
